Hi there 👋
How can I help you?
The Ultimate Hybrid (Acrylic + Gel). Can’t decide between 4D and Gel? Get both. 4D Domed (5mm) plates feature a solid 3mm acrylic base topped with a 2mm high-gloss resin dome. You get the sharp edges of laser-cut 4D with the premium “wet look” curve of 3D Gel. The best-selling premium upgrade.
The 4D Domed (5mm) is often called the “King of Plates.” It solves the biggest debate in the car community: “Sharp 4D or Shiny Gel?”
By bonding a polyurethane resin dome onto a laser-cut acrylic character, we create a hybrid letter that stands 5mm off the plate. The acrylic base provides the definition, while the gel top provides a liquid-like high gloss finish that catches the light from every angle.
The “Wet Look”: The resin dome creates a permanent liquid effect that looks prestigious on luxury cars (BMW, Audi, Mercedes).
Durability: The resin is “self-healing” against minor scratches and fully UV stable.
Legality: Fully compliant with 4D gel number plates legal standards (BS AU 145e).
If you want a plate that looks expensive and adds a high-end finish to your vehicle, the 5mm Domed is the industry standard.
Are 4D plates road legal? Yes, when they are made to BS AU 145e by a DVLA-registered supplier with solid black characters in the standard font and spacing. Read our guide: are 4D number plates legal in the UK?
